Aneice Taylor has a long history of distinguished community service. She has been a member of the Governing Board for In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Public Authority of Marin since inception in 2001. Aneice leads the Outreach Committee and orchestrates the P ublic Authority’s efforts at the state level to protect and improve IHSS. She also was instrumental in developing the back-up provider care system that provides IHSS Consumers a provider when their regular attendant is not available. Aneice has a long range goal of assisting the Public Authority with increasing available providers that are skilled in working with people who have significant disabilities.
For nearly twenty years Aneice has also been the Executive Director of IN SPIRIT, a non-profit organization which provides services to quadriplegics. Prior to IN SPIRIT, Aneice taught tumbling and physical education in Marin county schools and community centers. Aneice has also worked as an administrator at The University of Texas and The University of Michigan.
Aneice has served on the San Geronimo Valley Disaster Council for 20 years. In this role she advocates community response to natural disasters through education and preparation. Aneice is also on the Board of Valley Tours and Joys which furnishes Christmas gifts for over 150 local children from low-income families.
When asked about her community involvement Aneice responded, “I was injured in a natural disaster and my community has helped me in countless ways. I serve to show my gratitude.” Aneice describes her family as an invaluable support system. She has two children, a son and daughter, and is a proud grandmother of four.
In her leisure time, Aneice enjoys gardening, spending time in her greenhouse, adventures in nature, appreciating and creating art. Aneice has also enjoyed traveling to South America where she visited the exotic Ecuadorian jungles, Machu Picchu in Peru and Chile during a national coup.
