If you want a fulfilling career providing personal care and domestic services,  to individuals in need of your assistance to live safe and independently in their homes, become a home care provider for an In-home Supportive Services Consumer!

 

The IHSS-Public Authority of Marin Registry…

  • Recruits dedicated and professional applicants to provide home care to (IHSS) In-home supportive services consumers
  • Screens applicants for positive references and other requirements
  • Provides lists to all consumers who request provider referrals. The lists are tailor-made by computer and our specialist to match the needs, preferences, and preferred schedule of both the consumer and the provider
  • Provides support and follow-up to IHSS consumers who need help with using IHSS or finding providers
  • Helps arrange training for IHSS consumers and providers
  • Maintains a working relationship with the Department of Human Services

In order for you to be accepted onto the Registry you must:

  • Be able to work independently without supervision
  • Be able to communicate effectively with clients
  • Have a valid social security card
  • Have a valid California drivers license
  • Have identification and proof of permission to work in the US if you are not a citizen (such as a passport, valid California Driver’s license, Social Security Card and Alien Registration Card).
  • Have at least two job references in homecare related jobs and two personal references who will recommend you to provide home care
  • Attend a Mandatory Application Workshop
  • Be willing to submit to and pass the (DOJ) Department of Justice (Live-scan) Digitally Scanned Fingerprints at your cost. (If you have been convicted of a crime that may jeopardize the physical, mental, sexual health or safety and/or the financial safety of an IHSS consumer, you will not be able to work for IHSS.)
  • Be willing to submit to a tuberculosis (TB) test with a negative result ordered by the Public Authority at the time of the interview. (Negative test taken within the past 12 months will be accepted.)
  • Give the Public Authority your permission to conduct background checks (3).
  • Fill out a IHSS Provider Enrollment form
  • Be interviewed by the Registry Specialist
