IHSS HOME CARE PROVIDER JOB DESCRIPTION
SALARY ($11.55)
DUTIES
An IHSS caregiver performs variety of domestic and related task such as meal preparation, and cleanup; shopping, running errands, house cleaning and laundry. The caregiver may also assist with medical transportation and personal care such as bathing, dressing bowel and bladder care, grooming, etc.
Qualifications
- Be able to work independently without supervision
- Be able to communicate effectively with consumers
- Experience in working with people with disabilities, blind and seniors
- Posses a valid California drivers license and social security card
- Posse reliable transportation and a reliable phone number
- Willing to work in parts of the county where there is a lack of available providers
Responsibilities
An IHSS provider must:
- Be dependable, punctual and be ready for work. Inform the consumer well in advance, if you will be late or unable to work.
- Be responsible; respect the consumer’s dignity, privacy, property, religion and culture.
- Maintain the Consumer’s personal information confidential.
- Report abuse; if there is suspension of abuse towards a senior, blind or a disabled person and a child.
- Keep track and record hours worked. Submit accurate and complete timesheets twice a month.
- Provide authorized services only.
- Behave in a professional manor, be respectful and gain the trust of the consumer to maintain a health relationship.
- Support the consumer to maintain their independent lifestyle.
Requirements
Submit to a (Live Scan) Department of Justice background Check
Complete a provider Enrollment Form (SOC 426)
Attend a IHSS Provider Mandatory Orientation
Termination
Any use, possession or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol is reason for immediate termination from the registry. Any subsequent alert from the Department of Justice can be a reason for immediate termination. Any incident of physical, emotional and/or financial abuse of a client will also result in immediate termination from the registry and the appropriate authorities will be contacted.
